Ichor were appointed by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) to refurbish and fitout the DAB Makerspace for the Faculty of Design, Architecture and Building (DAB). The DAB Makerspace is a place for students to explore, innovate, develop and resolve design concepts utilising a variety of mediums such as woodwork, metalwork, spray painting, vacuum forming, hand fabricated processes using plastics, plywood and timbers, modelling foam, and ureal modelling. The recently refurbished and fitted out space is home to the tools and heavy-duty machinery utilised by the students to manufacture and fabricate their projects. Ichor’s scope of works involved demolition, fitout, services reticulation and equipment relocation which were completed within a tight 8-week programme. The project was completed to programme and to budget.
